During her overseas visits Marianne Bernadotte has had the opportunity to meet a number of Heads of States and other leaders in the sphere of politics, culture and business life. Her international network also includes the diplomatic corps. She played an important role at culture and film festivals. France remains an important focus for Marianne Bernadotte’s international network and she is a trusted friend of ex-President Jacques Chirac and his wife, as well as of other representatives of the cultural, political and economic life of Paris, particularly in the areas of fashion and design. In 1985 an international fashion magazine named her, “one of the ten best-dressed women in the world.” In her memoirs Marianne Bernadotte reflects that, “this stunt created far more attention and has resulted in far more enthusiastic headlines in newspapers than anything else I have ever engaged in.” Marianne Bernadotte’s extraordinarily wide international network has provided her with unique opportunities to involve herself directly in areas and projects of a charitable nature that derive either from Marianne Bernadotte’s own interests or in response to the needs of others.
